AMS Technologies is seeking a Senior Systems Engineer to support the team in San Antonio, TX. The Systems Engineer will be responsible for monitoring, detecting, analyzing, and responding to Cyber system events and incidents within Systems Integration Lab systems with minimal supervision.
 

 Responsibilities
  • Determines system and security requirements by evaluating business strategies and requirements; researching information security standards; conducting system security and vulnerability analyses and risk assessments; studying architecture/platform; identifying integration issues; preparing cost estimates.
  • Implements security systems by specifying intrusion detection methodologies and equipment; performing equipment and software installation and calibration; preparing preventive and reactive measures; creating, transmitting, and maintaining keys; providing technical support; completing documentation.
  • Engineers security solutions and verifies the security of systems by using STIGs and ACAS.
  • Maintains security by monitoring and ensuring compliance with standards, policies, and procedures; conducting incident response analyses; developing and conducting training programs.
  • Responsible for the engineering, development, implementation, and integration of DoD IA architectures, systems, or system components for use within computing environments.
  • Ensures that the architecture and design of development and operational systems are functional and secure, including designs for program of record systems and special purpose processing nodes.
  • Designs, tests, and implements complex VMWare environments, including creating data centers, clusters, distributed switches, configuring HA and FT, and vSAN.
  • Troubleshoots issues that arise in vCenter / ESXi with minimal downtime to customers.
  • Updates architectural documentation and drawings.
  • May participate in business development activities.
  • Capable of working independently on projects while also thriving in a collaborative team environment.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret with TS/SCI Eligibility
  • Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science with 5+ years of experience. Master's degree in Systems Engineering or Computer Science with 2+ years of experience.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively challenging experience in computer systems engineering and design within a dynamic, self-organized, and deadline-driven environment.
  • Robust understanding of VMware and virtual environments, including vSphere, ESXi, and vCenter.
  • Comprehensive proficiency in VMware technologies and associated tools/features, such as vSAN, High Availability (HA), Fault Tolerance (FT), among others.
  • Thorough grasp of enterprise domain environment and administration, including expertise in managing Domain Controllers, Certificate Authorities, DNS, DHCP, and related components.
  • Candidates should possess a solid understanding of both Linux (RHEL and Ubuntu) and Windows Operating Systems (Windows 10/11, Server 2016/2019/2022).
  • Thorough comprehension of Software Defined Storage.
  • Expertise in applying NIST standards and Security Technical Implementation Guides (STIGs) to ensure secure systems configurations.
  • Proficient in collaborating with stakeholders to analyze system requirements, devise tailored solutions, and execute them effectively.
  • Proficient in implementing system solutions for both cloud-based and hybrid applications.
  • Extensive experience with Dell hardware and storage solutions.
  • Skilled in scripting and automation using tools such as PowerShell, Python, and Ansible.
  • Familiarity with Windows Deployment Services (WDS) and Windows Server Update Service (WSUS).
  • Proficient in managing Certificate Authorities.
  • Hands-on experience with Security Onion.
  • Knowledgeable in Software Defined Networking.
  • Familiar with Commercial Off-The-Shelf (COTS) or open-source Network Security Monitoring Solutions or the Air Force's Cyber Vulnerability and Hunt Weapons System.
  • Familiarity with various networking protocols including TCP, IP, UDP, HTTP, HTTPS, FTP, SNMP, SSH, RTP, DNS, etc.
  • Acquainted with Jira and Confluence platforms.
  • Familiar with Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) and Scrum methodologies

Required Certifications:

  • Certification 8570/8140 IAT II (required within 6 months)

  • Microsoft Certification (MCSE)
  • Certified Systems Engineering Professional (CSEP)
  • RedHat Certified Engineer (RHCE)
  • CompTIA Security+ (Security+) or better
